Brembo Group, the global mobility innovation leader, introduces a new generation of motorcycle technologies, debuting on the new Ducati Superleggera V4 Centenario with the Hyction™ carbon ceramic brake disc.

Brembo Hyction™ Carbon Ceramic Disc
 

Hyction™ - the name referring to the combination of the words “hyper” and “action” - brings a material born in extreme automotive performance to road motorcycles for the first time. The disc is made from a carbon ceramic composite with a carbon matrix reinforced by fibers and integrated with silicon and silicon carbide. Derived from the CCM R technology used on hypercars and entirely re engineered for two wheel applications, this material provides exceptional thermal resistance and structural stability, allowing braking to remain immediate, consistent and predictable even under prolonged stress.

 

The disc itself introduces unprecedented solutions for the segment. With its 340 mm diameter, 8 mm thickness, and 35 mm braking surface, Hyction™ features 132 ventilation holes meticulously positioned to maximize heat dissipation. A newly developed asymmetric aluminum bell reduces weight while maintaining high stiffness, working in harmony with a distinctive non-circular inner profile: a completely new geometry designed to strengthen the six drive points and further reduce rotating mass.

 

This focus on mass is one of Hyction™’s most transformational contributions to motorcycle dynamics. Weighing just 1.375 kg, the disc delivers a reduction of 450 grams per disc, equal to 900 grams per wheel, along with a dramatic 40% decrease in inertia compared with a steel disc for road superbikes. This translates into quicker direction changes, greater responsiveness and enhanced steering precision. The entire architecture is supported by a MotoGP-derived floating system, engineered to maintain stability and performance even at the highest thermal loads.

To fully harness the disc’s potential, Brembo developed the GP4-HY, a radial monobloc caliper machined from a single block of aluminum. The GP4 designation follows the naming convention of Brembo’s performance calipers machined from solid, while HY refers to Hyction™, highlighting how the caliper is specifically engineered to work in synergy with the disc.


At its core is a racing-derived boosted mechanism, where an oblique sliding motion of the pads generates greater brake force while requiring the same lever pressure. Inside, 30 mm and 34 mm differentiated pistons work with a patented system that limits residual torque and reduces pad wear.
 

A dedicated anti-drag spring retracts the pads the instant the rider releases the lever, sharpening responsiveness, while a new organic pad compound developed specifically for carbon ceramic systems refines feel and modulation.

Brembo rear brake disc


Completing the system is a floating rear steel disc with an aluminum bell, measuring 223×4.5 mm. Instead of conventional steel bushings, aluminum bushings are used, an approach derived directly from racing applications, further reducing overall mass. This solution delivers additional weight saving compared to a fixed rear disc. The mass optimization ensures precise, controlled rear braking, perfectly balancing the performance delivered at the front.

 

The brake system is rounded out by the MCS brake master cylinder (Multiple Click System), a well-proven radial master cylinder with adjustable lever distance and ratio.

 

Öhlins NPX 25/30 Carbon fork


The pressurised Öhlins NPX 25/30 Carbon fork, the first of its kind on a road bike, features carbon fibre outer tubes made with unidirectional layers to maximise weight savings over conventional solutions. Weight is reduced by 8% compared to the Panigale V4 R and by 10% versus the standard Panigale V4, delivering improved agility and front-end feel. Designed with a mechanical layout to minimise weight, the fork uses a pressurised cartridge that reduces cavitation, ensuring consistent support through braking and corner entry.


At the rear, the Öhlins TTX36 GP LW shock absorber features a special lightweight steel spring and MotoGP-derived valves, improving compliance over small bumps and enabling tool-free hydraulic adjustment. Non-adjustable titanium suspension linkages further contribute to overall weight reduction.
