Brembo, global leader in mobility innovation, is introducing Hyction, its innovative carboceramic brake disc, to the Motul FIM Superbike World Championship for the first time, starting from the 2027 season.

This marks a true paradigm shift: the move from steel discs to an innovative solution capable of ensuring greater consistency, control and durability, in a context where every detail makes a difference.
For the first time in a production-based motorcycle racing competition, carboceramic material makes its debut in WorldSBK with Hyction – a name derived from the combination of the words “hyper” and “action” – confirming the Championship as a platform of excellence for the development of the most advanced technologies.

In this context, Brembo will become the exclusive supplier of braking systems for the entire grid, introducing a new technological standard and helping redefine the evolution of braking in the Championship.

Mauro Piccoli, Brembo Chief Marketing Officer
«In WorldSBK, performance is forged under pressure, corner after corner.
With Hyction, we are introducing a technology designed to give riders a more direct and predictable relationship with braking.
Becoming the exclusive supplier from 2027 means playing an active role in the technical evolution of the Championship, helping define its new standards.
WorldSBK is our ideal laboratory: here we work closely with the best riders and teams in the world, and what we develop on track directly fuels innovation for road applications as well.»

Gregorio Lavilla, WorldSBK Executive Director
«WorldSBK represents the closest link between racing and the motorcycles ridden by enthusiasts around the world. By expanding our collaboration with Brembo in this new technical chapter, we are reinforcing the Championship’s relevance as a platform where innovation developed through racing contributes to the future of production motorcycles. I would also like to thank the manufacturers, the teams and the FIM for their collaboration and support in defining a technical direction that keeps WorldSBK closely aligned with the development of the motorcycle industry.»

From steel to Hyction: a new generation of performance

The switch to Hyction carboceramic discs represents a significant evolution compared with the steel solutions used until 2026.
This technology delivers:

  • Greater consistency throughout the entire braking phase
  • Higher modulation, for more precise and progressive control
  • Increased component durability, with reduced wear
  • More stable and predictable braking in all conditions

The result is more effective and safer braking management, allowing riders to push beyond the limits with greater confidence.

WorldSBK as a laboratory for innovation

The introduction of Hyction reflects Brembo’s philosophy: developing cutting-edge solutions in the most extreme environments and transferring their benefits to production applications.

From the world of the most demanding road vehicles to racing, innovation is born from direct on-track experience.
In this sense, WorldSBK represents the ideal testing ground: a Championship in which production-derived motorcycles are pushed to the limit by the best riders in the world, generating essential data and expertise for the development of future technologies.

A strategic choice for the future of the Championship

With the introduction of Hyction and the single supply from 2027, Brembo and WorldSBK together take a decisive step towards a new evolutionary phase of the Championship.

This choice makes it possible to guarantee technological uniformity, cost control and greater focus on the talent of the riders, while introducing an innovative solution destined to become a new reference for motorcycle braking systems.

The introduction of Hyction represents a turning point that also paves the way for new development opportunities and once again confirms Brembo's central role in driving innovation in high-performance solutions.
